Is an authorisation required for all products?

A Ctgb authorisation is not required for all pesticides. Products based on an active substance or microorganism require a Ctgb authorisation before they can be placed on the market, but products that have an exclusively mechanical effect (such as a fly swatter) do not.

    How safe is a pesticide?

Plant protection products and biocides, like medicines, are safe only if the instructions for use are followed. Before a product comes onto the market, the Ctgb checks its compliance with European and national safety regulations. Read more
